NavPress to Release 'Solo Planet'
Updated March 9, 2023.
I first learned of the Navigators as a child, when Dad used to talk about the ministry that helped disciple him as a young sailor. Years later, it was Navigator-developed materials that introduced me to my listening prayer practice.
When a thief stole the bag containing my copy of that prayer guide, 12 months into global singleness project research, I pieced together fuzzy scans of each page in a Microsoft Word document, which a host in Bogotá printed out at his office, so I could keep practicing the process that I hadn't quite yet memorized. (As you can see, it's still the copy I use, nearly three years later.)
So it feels very appropriate that the publisher God finally provided for this project will be NavPress. Look for Solo Planet in early 2024. As you're so moved, I'd be very grateful for prayer over these next several months of writing — not least because the father who introduced me to the Navigators will probably die before I finish the manuscript.
Jack Gilbert's poem*, "A Brief for the Defense," captures well what I'm feeling, but I'll let you read it in the recent Lent devotional where I found it, in case my quoting it here wouldn't count as fair use.
