Coming in March: Solo Planet
From 2018-2019, I traveled around the world to interview nearly 350 Christians from 45 countries about how the church can better serve its millions of singles. Solo Planet: How Singles Help the Church Recover Our Calling draws on 17 months of fieldwork to provide a first-of its kind account of single life.
From cooking to aging, housing to celebrations, and vacations to parenting, Solo Planet shows how the church can become the integrated family God intends. When singles thrive in a church, everyone benefits. But consider these typical barriers within most churches:
Singles and marrieds often don’t know how to talk to each other.
Christians continue to act as if nearly all will marry—and if you don’t, then something must be wrong with you.
Women in the church outnumber men by a factor of millions, a fact churches rarely acknowledge or address.
Solo Planet calls Christians to a more faithful vision of singleness through the wisdom and stories of the global church: young and old, gay and straight, variously abled, and Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox. Through its deeply researched account, Solo Planet shows how a more biblical approach to singleness can strengthen churches and empower singles to thrive.
How to support the book:
Free: Ask your local library to carry it.
Pre-order two or more copies, and give one to a friend in a different season of life so you can read it discuss it together. If it all possible, try to support small, local and Black- or Native-owned bookstores with your purchase. More details on this coming soon.
